Credit Reference Agencies

If an individual falls into debt they may find it difficult to get further credit in future as your credit reference file will display the debt. Credit reference agencies collect information on everybody in the UK and will provide this information to lenders (e.g. banks, building societies, major retailers, estate agencies). The lender then uses the information to decide whether or not to grant credit. It is, therefore, very important to keep a dialogue open with creditors as this could prevent cases going to court and information stored on individual credit files.
